McDonald’s has announced that its popular $5 meal deal will be available for a few more weeks, as many of its U.S. locations have agreed to extend the promotion beyond the original four-week period that started on June 25, according to a memo from the fast-food chain.
The $5 bundle will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the country, although the duration of the offer may differ based on location, with some restaurants extending the deal into August.
With consumers facing high food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, this deal has proven successful for McDonald’s. Foot traffic analytics company Placer.ai reported a significant increase in customer visits following the launch of the meal deal, indicating that it has resonated well with patrons.
The success of McDonald’s promotion has prompted other fast casual chains to respond with their own offers. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Additionally, Burger King has extended its $5 “Your Way Meal” beyond the McDonald’s time frame and introduced new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the competitive landscape with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
