Fast food leader McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks.
According to a memo cited by Bloomberg, a majority of McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have agreed to continue this promotion beyond its initial four-week run, which began on June 25. The meal bundle will be available in approximately 93% of restaurants across the country, although the duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some extending it until August.
As many consumers face rising food prices and tightening budgets, the McDonald’s meal deal has proven to be a successful strategy for the company. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported that following the introduction of this offer, McDonald’s experienced a significant increase in customer visits, indicating its appeal.
This promotion has also raised concerns among other fast casual dining chains, leading many to introduce their own competitive offers. For instance, Arby’s has launched a $9 meal bundle, and Sonic has established a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell has introduced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited period, along with its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Additionally, Burger King recently announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would remain available longer than McDonald’s promotion, and it plans to add new items to its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has joined the fray as well, offering a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
