McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a memo referenced by Bloomberg. Most U.S.-based locations have agreed to keep the promotion going beyond its original four-week launch, which began on June 25.

This meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the nation, although the duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some restaurants planning to continue offering the deal through August.

As consumers face rising food costs, particularly in the fast-casual dining sector, the McDonald’s deal is proving beneficial for the company. Recent data from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated that there was a marked increase in customer visits to McDonald’s after the promotion was introduced, highlighting its appeal to consumers.

Other fast-casual dining chains have taken notice of the success of McDonald’s offer, prompting them to introduce their own promotions. For instance, Arby’s has launched a $9 meal deal, while Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a temporary $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In a competitive response, Burger King announced that its own $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle will remain available longer than the McDonald’s promotion. Additionally, Wendy’s has entered the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
