McDonald’s has announced that it will continue its $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, most McDonald’s locations in the United States have agreed to extend this promotion beyond its original four-week run, which began on June 25.

The meal deal will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the country, though the duration of the promotion may vary by location. Some outlets have chosen to keep the deal active until August.

As consumers face rising prices in the food market, particularly for fast casual dining, the McDonald’s promotion has proven beneficial for the company. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported that following the launch of the deal, there was a noticeable increase in customers visiting McDonald’s restaurants, indicating that the offer has resonated well with diners.

The popularity of McDonald’s $5 meal deal has prompted other fast casual dining chains to react with their own promotions. For example, Arby’s introduced a $9 bundle, and Sonic rolled out a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time, along with its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In response to the competitive landscape, Burger King extended its $5 “Your Way Meal” beyond McDonald’s offering and also introduced new items to its “Fiery Menu” early in June. Wendy’s has joined the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and has rolled out a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
