McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for additional weeks, continuing its promotion beyond the initially planned four-week period that began on June 25. According to a memo cited by Bloomberg, a majority of McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have agreed to maintain the offer, which will be available at approximately 93% of its restaurants nationwide, although the specific duration of the promotion may vary by location, with some restaurants planning to continue the deal until August.
This move comes as consumers face rising food costs and seek more affordable dining options. The deal has proven beneficial for McDonald’s, as recent data from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicates a significant increase in customer visits following the promotion’s launch, highlighting its appeal among patrons.
The success of McDonald’s value deal has prompted other fast casual dining chains to respond with their own offers. For instance, Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle and Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell, in June, also announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In addition, Burger King extended its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle beyond the original timeline and introduced new menu items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and has rolled out a new $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
