McDonald’s will extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a memo reported by Bloomberg. Most U.S. locations have agreed to continue the promotion, which originally launched on June 25 for a four-week period.
The meal deal will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the exact duration of the promotion may vary by location, with some extending it through August.
As consumers face high food prices, particularly in fast casual dining, this offering is proving beneficial for McDonald’s. Research from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicates that the promotion has significantly increased customer visits to its restaurants.
The deal has prompted other fast casual dining establishments to react by introducing their own promotions. For example, Arby’s has rolled out a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic now features a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell has also joined the mix, announcing a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box in addition to its $5 Taco Discovery Box and a new Cravings Value Menu.
Burger King recently announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for a longer period than McDonald’s offering, while also adding new items to its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has further participated in the value trend, offering a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
