Fast food leader McDonald’s has decided to extend its $5 meal deal for a few additional weeks.

According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, most McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have agreed to continue the promotion, which originally kicked off on June 25 and was meant to last four weeks. The meal deal will remain available at approximately 93% of restaurants across the country, with the duration of the promotion varying depending on the location. Some outlets have chosen to extend the offer through August.

As consumers grapple with rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s meal deal has proven to be successful for the company.

Foot traffic data from analytics firm Placer.ai indicated that the introduction of the meal bundle resulted in a notable increase in customers visiting McDonald’s restaurants, demonstrating the appeal of the promotion.

Other fast casual dining chains are responding to McDonald’s popular deal by introducing their own competitive offers. Arby’s has launched a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has implemented a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box in addition to its $5 Taco Discovery Box and its Cravings Value Menu.

In late May, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available longer than the McDonald’s promotion and also unveiled additional new items featuring its “Fiery Menu.” Similarly, Wendy’s has responded to the competitive landscape with a $3 breakfast bundle and a new $5 option named the “Biggie Bag.”
