McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a memo from the fast-food giant. As reported by Bloomberg, most U.S. locations are participating in this promotion, which initially started on June 25 for four weeks. The deal will continue to be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the country, though the duration may vary by location, with some opting to extend it through August.

Amid rising food prices that are putting a strain on consumers, particularly in the fast-casual dining sector, McDonald’s has seen positive results from this initiative. Foot traffic analytics company Placer.ai reported a significant increase in customer visits following the launch of the $5 meal deal, indicating its appeal to diners.

This promotion has prompted competitors in the fast-casual dining segment to create their own value offerings. For instance, Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell also entered the fray with a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box, alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and its Cravings Value Menu.

Earlier in May, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available longer than McDonald’s deal and introduced new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Additionally, Wendy’s is participating in the value competition with a $3 breakfast bundle and has recently introduced a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
