McDonald’s, the popular fast food chain, has decided to extend its $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a report by Bloomberg, based on a memo from the company, the majority of McDonald’s locations in the U.S. opted to continue the promotion, which initially launched on June 25 for four weeks.
The meal deal will still be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the offer may differ by location, with some franchises planning to continue the deal until August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, this affordable McDonald’s bundle has proven effective for the restaurant. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported that following the launch of the deal, McDonald’s experienced a significant increase in visitors, indicating the promotion’s positive impact on customer interest.
The popularity of McDonald’s deal has raised awareness among competitors in the fast casual dining sector, prompting them to introduce their own value promotions. For instance, Arby’s has launched a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has established a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell also announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In late May, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would surpass the original McDonald’s offering in duration and mentioned new items for its “Fiery Menu.” Additionally, Wendy’s is participating in the promotions with a $3 breakfast bundle and has introduced a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
