Fast food leader McDonald’s will continue its $5 meal deal for a few more weeks.
According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, a majority of McDonald’s locations in the United States have agreed to extend the promotion beyond its original four-week duration, which began on June 25.
The meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of locations nationwide, although the duration of the offer may differ by restaurant. Some franchises have chosen to prolong the deal until August.
With consumers facing higher food prices, especially in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s bundle has proven beneficial for the company.
Foot traffic analytics from Placer.ai revealed that after the promotion launched, McDonald’s restaurants experienced a notable increase in visitors, highlighting the deal’s appeal to customers.
This move has prompted other fast casual dining chains to respond with their own promotions. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has established a permanent $1.99 value menu. In June, Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box, alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Earlier in May, Burger King stated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available longer than McDonald’s offering, and it also introduced new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has joined the promotional landscape as well, with a $3 breakfast bundle and has recently rolled out a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
