McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, following a memo indicating that most U.S.-based locations will continue the promotion beyond its initial four-week launch on June 25.

The offer will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the country, though the duration of the promotion may vary by location, with some franchises opting to extend it into August.

This decision comes as consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector. The deal has proven beneficial for McDonald’s, as analytics firm Placer.ai reported a significant increase in foot traffic shortly after the promotion began, highlighting its popularity among customers.

The success of McDonald’s promotion has prompted other fast casual dining chains to introduce their own deals. Arby’s is now offering a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell has also entered the fray, introducing a $7 Luxe Cravings Box along with its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box.

In late May, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available longer than McDonald’s offer, while earlier that month, the chain unveiled new items within its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s is also participating in the competitive landscape with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
