McDonald’s has decided to extend its $5 meal deal for a few more weeks due to its popularity among consumers. According to Bloomberg, a memo from the company revealed that a majority of U.S. McDonald’s locations will continue offering the promotion, which initially started on June 25.
The promotion will be available at approximately 93% of the restaurants nationwide, although the length of the deal may differ from one location to another, with some opting to keep it running until August.
As consumers face higher food prices, especially in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s meal deal has proved beneficial for the company. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s following the launch of the deal, indicating its effectiveness in attracting patrons.
The popularity of McDonald’s promotion has prompted competition among other fast casual dining chains. For example, Arby’s recently introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box, complementing its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In addition, Burger King extended its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle beyond the McDonald’s offering and announced new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the promotional wave with a $3 breakfast bundle and introduced a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
