McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, the majority of McDonald’s outlets in the U.S. have opted to carry on with the promotion, which initially began on June 25 for a four-week period.

The value meal will remain available in approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the country, though the duration of the promotion may differ by location. Some franchises have chosen to continue the deal until August.

As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, this bundle appears to be a successful strategy for McDonald’s. A report from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai noted a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s locations shortly after the promotion launched, highlighting its appeal to diners.

This move has prompted competition among other fast casual chains, with several introducing their own deals. Arby’s has rolled out a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a special $7 Luxe Cravings Box and maintained its $5 Taco Discovery Box alongside its Cravings Value Menu.

Recently, Burger King indicated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would remain available longer than McDonald’s deal, while also updating its menu with new spicy options. Wendy’s has entered the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
