McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, as confirmed by a memo reported by Bloomberg. A majority of the chain’s U.S. locations will continue to offer this promotion, which initially launched on June 25, with its availability varying by location. Some restaurants may keep the deal going until August.

This extension comes at a time when many consumers are facing financial challenges and rising food costs, particularly in the fast casual dining sector. The $5 bundle has proven successful for McDonald’s, as foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai noted a significant increase in customer visits shortly after the promotion began.

The success of McDonald’s deal has prompted other fast casual dining chains to respond with competitive offers. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has established a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited period, in addition to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

Burger King revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would remain available longer than the McDonald’s deal and announced new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the promotion frenzy with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
