McDonald’s $5 Meal Deal Extended: What You Need to Know

McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for a few more weeks, as reported by Bloomberg, which cites a memo from the fast food chain. The promotion was originally launched on June 25 for a four-week period but has been agreed to be continued by a majority of McDonald’s restaurants in the U.S.

The meal deal will remain available at approximately 93% of locations nationwide, although the duration of the promotion may differ by restaurant, with some opting to extend it until August.

As consumer budgets tighten amid rising food prices, particularly in fast casual dining, the McDonald’s bundle has proved beneficial for the company. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported that the introduction of the meal deal has resulted in a significant increase in customer visits to its restaurants, indicating strong consumer interest.

This success has not gone unnoticed by other fast casual dining chains, which are now intensifying their competition with their own deals. For instance, Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has established a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box, in addition to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In late May, Burger King indicated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available longer than the McDonald’s deal, and earlier that month, they mentioned adding new items to their “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
