McDonald’s has announced that its popular $5 meal deal will be available for a few more weeks. According to a memo from the fast food chain, the majority of locations across the U.S. have agreed to extend the promotion, which originally started on June 25.
This meal bundle will continue to operate in about 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some restaurants planning to keep the deal until August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in fast-casual dining, the McDonald’s bundle has proven to be beneficial for the company. A report from the foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated that there has been a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s locations following the launch of the meal deal, suggesting it has successfully attracted consumers.
The success of this offering has prompted other fast-casual dining establishments to respond with competitive pricing. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal deal, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell is also participating, having announced its $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside the existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Burger King previously stated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would run longer than McDonald’s promotion. In addition, the chain introduced new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s is also joining the competition with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
