McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, as reported by Bloomberg in a memo from the fast-food chain. Most McDonald’s locations in the United States agreed to prolong the promotion, which initially started on June 25.
This bundle will remain available at about 93% of the nationwide restaurants, although the duration of the offer may differ from one location to another, with some extending it until August.
In response to rising food prices that are affecting cash-strapped consumers, especially in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s meal deal has proven beneficial for the company.
Data from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated that following the introduction of the bundle, McDonald’s saw a significant increase in customer visits, highlighting its appeal to consumers.
The success of McDonald’s deal has prompted other fast casual chains to respond with competitive offers. For instance, Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, and Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell, in June, announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Burger King has also extended its $5 “Your Way Meal” longer than the McDonald’s offer, while adding new items to its “Fiery Menu.” Additionally, Wendy’s has entered the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
