McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a memo cited by Bloomberg. The promotion, which initially launched on June 25, will now be available at approximately 93% of its U.S. locations, although the duration of the deal may differ by specific restaurant.
As consumers face rising food costs, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, this meal bundle is proving to be beneficial for McDonald’s. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported a significant increase in customer visits shortly after the promotion began, indicating that the deal is appealing to diners.
The success of McDonald’s deal has prompted other fast casual restaurants to respond with their own promotions. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has rolled out a permanent $1.99 value menu. Additionally, Taco Bell is offering a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In a competitive move, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would remain available longer than McDonald’s promotion. The chain also revealed plans to introduce new items to its “Fiery Menu.” Meanwhile, Wendy’s has launched a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo named the “Biggie Bag.”
