The fast food chain McDonald’s will continue to offer its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, most McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have agreed to extend the promotion beyond the initial four-week period, which started on June 25.
The meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some chains opting to maintain the deal until August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s bundle has proven beneficial for the company. Data from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicates that the promotion has notably increased customer visits to McDonald’s locations shortly after its introduction, suggesting that it has struck a chord with shoppers.
In response to McDonald’s success, other fast casual dining chains are rolling out their own promotions. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time, alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Additionally, Burger King recently proclaimed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would extend beyond the McDonald’s offering. Earlier, it also introduced new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has joined the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle, as well as a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
