McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a memo reported by Bloomberg. Most of the McDonald’s restaurants across the U.S. have agreed to continue the promotion, which kicked off on June 25, surpassing its original four-week duration.
The meal bundle will remain available at approximately 93% of the chain’s locations nationwide, although the specific length of the promotion may differ by restaurant, with some opting to extend it into August.
As consumers grapple with rising food prices, particularly in fast casual dining, this deal is proving beneficial for McDonald’s. Foot traffic analytics from Placer.ai indicated that the introduction of the $5 bundle has significantly increased customer visits to McDonald’s locations.
The success of this promotion has also prompted competitors in the fast casual dining sector to launch similar offers. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, and Sonic has established a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box to complement its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Earlier in May, Burger King announced that its own $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would extend beyond McDonald’s promotion, and the chain also introduced new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has joined the competitive landscape with a $3 breakfast bundle, followed by a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
