McDonald’s has announced it will continue its $5 meal deal for several more weeks.
According to Bloomberg, a majority of McDonald’s locations in the United States have agreed to extend the promotion, which originally launched on June 25 for four weeks. The $5 bundle will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants across the country, although the duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some extending it until August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast-casual segment, the McDonald’s bundle has proven to be successful. A report from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai noted a significant increase in customers visiting McDonald’s restaurants shortly after the promotion started, indicating strong consumer interest.
Other fast-casual dining chains have taken notice of McDonald’s success and are responding with their own promotions. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and existing Cravings Value Menu.
Burger King previously stated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for a longer period than McDonald’s offer and announced new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also introduced competitive deals, including a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
