The fast food leader McDonald’s has decided to extend its $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, most McDonald’s locations in the U.S. are set to continue the promotion, which originally started on June 25 for a four-week period.

The meal deal is expected to be available in approximately 93% of restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the offer may differ by location, with some opting to extend it until August.

As consumers face rising food costs, especially in the fast-casual dining sector, the McDonald’s bundle has proven successful, helping to attract more customers. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai noted a significant increase in visits to McDonald’s locations shortly after the offer was launched, indicating its appeal among consumers.

This deal has prompted other fast casual dining chains to react with their own promotions. For instance, Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has rolled out a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box as a limited-time offer, in addition to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In addition, Burger King recently stated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would surpass the duration of the McDonald’s deal and unveiled plans for new menu items. Wendy’s has also participated in the competitive pricing strategy by offering a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
