Fast food leader McDonald’s has announced that it will extend its popular $5 meal deal for additional weeks. According to a memo referenced by Bloomberg, most of the company’s U.S. locations have opted to continue the promotion beyond the initial four-week offering that started on June 25.

Approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide will maintain the bundle, although the duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some extending it until August.

This move comes as consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, making the McDonald’s deal appealing.

Data from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated a significant increase in customer visits following the launch of the promotion, highlighting the success of the deal in attracting patrons.

The impact of McDonald’s deal has prompted other fast casual chains to respond with their own promotions. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

Additionally, Burger King revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” will be available longer than McDonald’s offer and plans to introduce new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s is also participating with a $3 breakfast bundle and has launched a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
