Fast food leader McDonald’s has decided to extend its $5 meal deal for a few additional weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, a majority of McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have chosen to continue the promotion, which initially started on June 25 for four weeks.
The meal bundle will still be available at approximately 93% of the chain’s restaurants nationwide, though the duration of the promotion may differ by location. Some outlets have chosen to keep the deal going through August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly at fast-casual dining establishments, the McDonald’s bundle has proven to be a successful strategy for the company. A recent analysis by foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai revealed that the introduction of the bundle led to a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s restaurants, indicating its appeal to consumers.
The success of this deal has prompted other fast-casual dining chains to respond with their own offers. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time, alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Additionally, Burger King revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would extend beyond the duration of McDonald’s promotion. Earlier, Burger King had also announced plans to add new items to its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the competitive landscape with a $3 breakfast bundle and recently started offering a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
