McDonald’s $5 Meal Deal Extended: What This Means for Fast Food Fans

McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a memo reported by Bloomberg. This promotion, which began on June 25, was initially set for four weeks but has garnered significant support from a majority of its U.S. locations, allowing it to continue at approximately 93% of restaurants across the country. The duration of this offer may vary by location, with some outlets choosing to keep the deal running until August.

As consumers face high food prices, particularly in the fast-casual dining sector, McDonald’s meal bundle has proven beneficial for the company. A recent analysis from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s restaurants following the launch of the promotion, suggesting that the deal is appealing to patrons.

The success of McDonald’s promotional strategy has prompted other fast-casual dining chains to respond with their own offerings. For example, Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has implemented a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time, alongside its ongoing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In late May, Burger King disclosed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would be available for a longer duration than McDonald’s promotion. The same month, the chain announced new items would be added to its “Fiery Menu.” Meanwhile, Wendy’s has joined the trend with a $3 breakfast bundle and introduced a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
