Fast food leader McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, many U.S.-based McDonald’s locations agreed to prolong the promotion, which originally launched on June 25.
The $5 meal deal will continue to be available at approximately 93% of restaurants across the country, although the duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some extending it into August.
With consumers facing financial pressures from rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s bundle has proven successful for the company.
A recent analysis from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated that the introduction of the meal bundle significantly increased customer visits to McDonald’s restaurants, highlighting the effectiveness of the promotion.
Other fast casual dining chains are responding to McDonald’s success by introducing their own deals. Arby’s has launched a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has created a permanent value menu priced at $1.99. Additionally, Taco Bell has announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In late May, Burger King revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would continue longer than McDonald’s $5 offering, while also introducing new items in its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has joined the promotional trend as well, rolling out a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
