McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a memo shared by Bloomberg. The promotion, which initially launched on June 25, will now be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s locations across the United States, although the extension duration may vary by restaurant, with some opting to continue the deal until August.

As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, this deal has proven beneficial for McDonald’s. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported a significant increase in customer visits following the introduction of this bundle, indicating its appeal among diners.

The success of McDonald’s promotion has prompted rival fast casual dining chains to introduce their own competitive offers. For example, Arby’s has rolled out a $9 bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell also announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time, alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In response to the competitive landscape, Burger King stated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would outlast McDonald’s offer, having also introduced new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has joined the fray, offering a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
