Fast food leader McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several additional weeks.

According to a memo referenced by Bloomberg, a majority of McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have agreed to continue this promotion, which initially started on June 25. The meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of the chain’s restaurants nationwide, although the specific duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some extending it until August.

In light of rising food prices that are affecting budget-conscious consumers, the McDonald’s bundle has proven beneficial for the company.

Recent insights from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai revealed that the chain experienced a noticeable increase in customer visits shortly after the launch of the meal deal, indicating strong consumer interest.

This successful promotion has prompted rival fast casual chains to respond with their own offers. For instance, Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, and Sonic has established a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In late May, Burger King stated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would extend beyond the McDonald’s promotion, while also introducing new items to its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has joined the trend with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
