McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, most McDonald’s locations across the United States have agreed to continue the promotion, which originally launched on June 25, beyond its initial four-week period.

The meal bundle will still be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the offer may differ by location, with some franchises choosing to maintain the deal until August.

With consumers facing rising food prices, especially in the fast-casual dining sector, this McDonald’s promotion is proving beneficial for the company. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s restaurants in the days following the promotion’s launch, indicating that the deal has struck a chord with consumers.

This move has also prompted other fast-casual dining chains to respond with their own competitive offers. For instance, Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has rolled out a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box in addition to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In addition, Burger King recently revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” will be available for a longer duration than McDonald’s offering, alongside new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
