McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, most of the U.S.-based McDonald’s locations have agreed to keep the promotion going beyond its initial four-week launch that began on June 25.

The discounted meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants across the country, although the duration of the offer may differ by location, with some franchises opting to extend it until August.

As consumers face rising food prices, especially in the fast casual dining sector, the $5 deal has proven beneficial for McDonald’s. Recently, an analysis by Placer.ai revealed a significant increase in foot traffic at McDonald’s outlets shortly after the promotion started, highlighting its appeal to customers.

The success of McDonald’s deal has prompted rival fast casual dining chains to introduce their own promotions. Arby’s is offering a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box, alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In late May, Burger King stated that its own $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for a longer duration than McDonald’s promotion, while also planning to introduce new items in its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the fray, offering a $3 breakfast bundle and launching a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
