Fast food leader McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, many McDonald’s locations across the United States have chosen to continue the promotion, which originally began on June 25 and was set to run for four weeks.
The meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants nationwide, though the duration of the offer may differ depending on the location. Some outlets have decided to keep the deal going until August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in fast casual dining, the McDonald’s bundle has proven beneficial for the chain. Recent data from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated a significant increase in visitors to McDonald’s in the days following the introduction of the meal deal, suggesting that it appeals to customers.
In response to McDonald’s successful promotion, other fast casual dining chains have launched their own value deals. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has added a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced its $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time, in addition to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Burger King recently stated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for a longer period than McDonald’s promotion. The chain also mentioned new menu items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Meanwhile, Wendy’s has joined the competition with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
