Fast food leader McDonald’s has decided to extend its $5 meal deal for several more weeks.
According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, the majority of McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have agreed to prolong the promotion, which initially began on June 25. The $5 bundle will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants across the country, although the duration of the deal may vary depending on the specific location. Some franchises plan to continue the promotion into August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, McDonald’s meal deal appears to be successfully attracting customers. Foot traffic analysis from Placer.ai indicated a significant increase in visitors to McDonald’s restaurants shortly after the launch of the offer, highlighting its popularity among consumers.
The success of McDonald’s promotion has prompted other fast casual dining establishments to respond with competitive offers. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has created a permanent value menu at $1.99. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box, in addition to its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Additionally, in late May, Burger King revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would be available for a longer duration than McDonald’s deal, and earlier that month, the chain announced new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the discount trend with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
