McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, responding to consumer demand amid rising food prices. According to a memo cited by Bloomberg, the majority of McDonald’s locations in the United States have agreed to keep the promotion going beyond its initial four-week launch on June 25.
The meal deal will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the promotion may vary by location, with some places extending the offer until August.
As consumers face higher costs, especially in fast casual dining, this promotion has proven beneficial for McDonald’s. A recent analysis from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s restaurants following the introduction of the $5 meal deal, showing its appeal among diners.
Other fast casual chains have taken notice and are responding with their own promotional offers. For example, Arby’s has rolled out a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has introduced a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu. Additionally, Burger King has decided to extend its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle even longer than McDonald’s, introducing new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the promotional landscape with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
