McDonald’s has announced that its popular $5 meal deal will continue for several more weeks. According to a memo cited by Bloomberg, most McDonald’s restaurants in the United States have opted to extend this promotion, which originally started on June 25.
The $5 meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s locations nationwide, although the duration of the offer may vary by individual restaurant, with some chains extending it until August.
As many consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s bundle has proven to be successful. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported a significant increase in customer visits shortly after the introduction of the bundle, indicating its positive reception among diners.
This promotion has also triggered competition among other fast casual dining chains, leading them to introduce their own deals. Arby’s launched a $9 bundle, while Sonic created a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced it would offer a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In late May, Burger King shared plans to extend its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle beyond the duration of McDonald’s promotion and mentioned the introduction of new items in its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle, as well as a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
