McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for a few more weeks. According to a memo from the company reported by Bloomberg, a majority of its U.S. locations have opted to keep the promotion going beyond the initial four-week period, which began on June 25.

The meal bundle will continue to be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, with specific promotion durations varying by location. Some franchises have chosen to maintain the deal until August.

As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in fast casual dining, the McDonald’s bundle has proven successful for the company. Foot traffic analytics from Placer.ai indicated a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s in the days following the launch of the meal deal, highlighting its appeal to diners.

This competitive pricing strategy has prompted other fast casual dining chains to respond with their own deals. For example, Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal option, while Sonic has introduced a $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and its Cravings Value Menu.

Additionally, Burger King has stated that its $5 “Your Way Meal” will extend beyond the existing McDonald’s offer, with plans to add new items to its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s is also participating in the discount trend, offering a $3 breakfast bundle and recently launching a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
