McDonald’s $5 Meal Deal Extended: What It Means for Fast Food Fans

McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, following a successful launch on June 25. According to a memo from the fast food chain, most U.S. locations have agreed to continue the offer beyond its initial four-week period. The promotion will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the duration may differ from site to site, with some extending the deal into August.

As consumers face increasing food prices, especially in the fast-casual dining sector, this value offer has proven beneficial for McDonald’s. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported a significant increase in customer visits shortly after the promotion was introduced, indicating that the deal has struck a chord with patrons.

The success of McDonald’s $5 meal deal has stirred competition among other fast-casual dining chains, prompting them to launch their own promotions. For instance, Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has established a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell, in June, unveiled a $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

Additionally, Burger King recently announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle will now extend beyond the McDonald’s promotion. Earlier in the month, they also added new items to their “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s is also participating in the price competition with a $3 breakfast bundle and a new $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
