McDonald’s has announced the extension of its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, following a successful initial four-week run that debuted on June 25. According to reports, a significant number of McDonald’s locations across the United States have agreed to prolong the promotion.

The deal will remain available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the exact duration may vary by location, with some franchises choosing to continue the offer until August. This promotion comes at a time when consumers are facing higher food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, and it appears to be positively impacting McDonald’s business.

Analytics firm Placer.ai noted that foot traffic to McDonald’s locations increased substantially after the meal deal was introduced, indicating that consumers are responding well to the promotion.

Other fast casual dining chains have taken notice, with many introducing their own value deals in response. Arby’s has rolled out a $9 bundle, while Sonic has implemented a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell has announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time, in addition to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In late May, Burger King extended its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle, stating it would outlast McDonald’s offering, and also introduced new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Meanwhile, Wendy’s has entered the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
