McDonald’s $5 Meal Deal Extended: What It Means for Fast Food Fans

McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, building on the initial four-week promotion that began on June 25. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, most McDonald’s locations in the United States have agreed to continue offering this deal, which will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants nationwide, although the duration of the promotion may differ by location. Some outlets have chosen to extend the offer through August.

As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s bundle has proven beneficial for the company. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai noted a significant increase in customers visiting McDonald’s locations shortly after the launch of the bundle, indicating that it has resonated strongly with consumers.

This successful initiative has prompted other fast casual chains to respond with their own promotional deals. For instance, Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent value menu priced at $1.99. Taco Bell is also joining in, offering a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In late May, Burger King announced its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would be available for a longer period than McDonald’s offer, and earlier in the month, it had revealed plans to introduce new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s is not left behind either, with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
