McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a memo shared by Bloomberg. The promotion, which began on June 25, has received support from the majority of U.S.-based McDonald’s locations and will remain available at approximately 93% of restaurants nationwide. The duration of the deal may vary by location, with some franchises opting to continue it through August.
As consumers face high food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s bundle has proven beneficial for the company. Data from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated a significant increase in customer visits following the launch of the promotion, highlighting its appeal to diners.
This competitive pricing strategy has prompted other fast casual chains to respond with their own promotions. For instance, Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, and Sonic has established a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell is also offering a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time, alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In late May, Burger King announced that its own $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available longer than the McDonald’s offering, while also introducing new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has gotten involved by providing a $3 breakfast bundle and the $5 “Biggie Bag” combo.
