McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a memo reported by Bloomberg. The fast food chain initially launched the promotion on June 25, but a majority of its U.S. locations have opted to continue the offer beyond the original four-week period.
Approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide are participating in the promotion, although the duration may vary by location, with some extending the deal until August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in fast casual dining, the McDonald’s bundle has proven successful for the company. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai noted a significant increase in customer visits shortly after the promotion launched, demonstrating its appeal.
This move has prompted other fast casual dining chains to introduce competitive deals. Arby’s has started a $9 bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In late May, Burger King revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would last longer than McDonald’s deal and introduced new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the promotions with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
