McDonald’s $5 Meal Deal Extended: What It Means for Fast Food Fans?

McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for a few additional weeks after a successful launch on June 25. Reports indicate that a majority of McDonald’s locations across the United States have agreed to continue the promotion beyond its initial four-week timeframe.

The $5 bundle will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the specific duration of the promotion may differ by location, with some franchises opting to extend it until August.

This extension comes as consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector. The $5 meal deal has proven beneficial for McDonald’s, as highlighted by data from Placer.ai, which indicated a significant increase in foot traffic at McDonald’s locations following the introduction of the bundle, showing strong consumer interest.

The deal has sparked competition among other fast casual restaurants, with chains like Arby’s launching a $9 bundle and Sonic establishing a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell has also joined the fray with a temporary $7 Luxe Cravings Box and a $5 Taco Discovery Box, alongside its Cravings Value Menu.

Moreover, in late May, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would be available for a longer period than McDonald’s offer and introduced new items in its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s is competing with deals of its own, including a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
