McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a report by Bloomberg referencing an internal memo from the company. The promotion, which first rolled out on June 25, has received enthusiastic support from the majority of McDonald’s locations in the United States.

The $5 meal bundle will remain available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, though the length of the promotion may differ by location, with some opting to continue it until August.

As many consumers are currently facing higher food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s bundle is proving beneficial for the company. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai noted a significant increase in customers at McDonald’s following the launch of the promotion, indicating it has struck a chord with consumers.

The success of McDonald’s deal has prompted rival fast casual restaurants to respond with their own promotions. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In response to the competitive landscape, Burger King has stated that its own $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle will be available longer than McDonald’s. Additionally, Burger King revealed new menu items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also entered the fray by offering a $3 breakfast bundle and has introduced a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
