McDonald’s has announced the extension of its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, a majority of U.S.-based McDonald’s locations have agreed to continue the promotion, which originally started on June 25 and was set for four weeks.

The $5 bundle will remain available at approximately 93% of restaurants across the country, although the duration of the deal may differ by location, with some opting to extend it until August.

As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s deal has proven successful for the chain. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai noted a significant increase in customer visits shortly after the promotion was launched, indicating a positive response from patrons.

The attractive deal has also prompted other fast casual dining chains to react. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell recently announced a temporary $7 Luxe Cravings Box, alongside its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In late May, Burger King declared its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for a longer period than McDonald’s deal and announced new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the competitive landscape with a $3 breakfast bundle and introduced a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
