McDonald’s $5 Meal Deal Extended: The Battle for Fast Food Value Heats Up!

McDonald’s has announced that it will extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, following initial success since its launch on June 25. According to a memo, a majority of the U.S.-based McDonald’s franchisees have agreed to keep the promotion active beyond the planned four weeks.

The meal deal will remain available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s locations across the country, although the duration of the offer may differ by restaurant. Some locations could continue the promotion into August.

As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in fast casual dining, the value of McDonald’s meal bundle has become increasingly appealing. A recent report from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated a notable increase in customer visits to McDonald’s after the promotion was introduced, highlighting its popularity among patrons.

This move has prompted rival fast casual dining chains to respond with their own value deals. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, while Sonic has added a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell also recently announced a $7 Luxe Cravings Box along with its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In a competitive response, Burger King announced in late May that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for an extended period, and the chain is also adding new items to its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has joined the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and introduced a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
