McDonald’s is extending its $5 meal deal for a few more weeks.
According to a memo cited by Bloomberg, most U.S. McDonald’s locations have agreed to extend the promotion, which initially launched on June 25, beyond the initial four-week period.
The promotion will continue at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, though the duration will vary by location. Some restaurants plan to keep the deal until August.
As consumers face higher food prices, especially in fast casual dining, the McDonald’s $5 bundle is proving successful for the company. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s after the bundle was introduced, indicating strong consumer interest.
This move has prompted other fast casual dining chains to offer their own deals. Arby’s is promoting a $9 bundle, while Sonic has added a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell offers a $7 Luxe Cravings Box and a $5 Taco Discovery Box, along with its Cravings Value Menu.
Burger King announced in late May that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would last longer than McDonald’s promotion. The company also introduced new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.”
Wendy’s is offering deals as well, including a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
