McDonald’s has announced the continuation of its $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, most U.S.-based McDonald’s locations have opted to extend the promotion, which originally began on June 25, beyond its initial four-week period.
The meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of restaurants across the country, although the duration of the deal may differ by location. Some establishments plan to maintain the offer until August.
As consumers face rising food prices, especially in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s bundle has proven beneficial for the chain. A recent analysis by foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai indicated that the introduction of the meal deal has resulted in a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s.
The popularity of McDonald’s promotion has prompted rival fast casual dining restaurants to respond with their own competitive offers. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has established a permanent $1.99 value menu. In June, Taco Bell unveiled a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited duration, alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and a Cravings Value Menu.
Additionally, Burger King announced that its own $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle will be available longer than McDonald’s deal. Earlier in the same month, the chain revealed plans to enhance its offerings with new items on its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has also joined the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
