McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks, according to a memo cited by Bloomberg. This decision comes as the initial four-week promotion, which started on June 25, gained significant traction among U.S. customers.

The meal bundle will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s locations across the nation, although the extension period will differ depending on each restaurant. Some locations are reportedly planning to offer the deal until August.

As consumers continue to face high food prices, particularly in the fast-casual dining sector, the $5 bundle has proven beneficial for McDonald’s. A foot traffic analysis by Placer.ai highlighted that the introduction of the deal resulted in a marked increase in customers visiting the restaurants, indicating its popularity among patrons.

The success of the McDonald’s promotion has stirred competition in the fast-casual dining market. Other chains are responding with their own offers; for example, Arby’s has rolled out a $9 bundle, and Sonic has introduced a consistent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box alongside its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In the meantime, Burger King declared that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would continue longer than the McDonald’s offer and has also introduced new items to its “Fiery Menu.” Additionally, Wendy’s has responded to the pricing wars with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
