McDonald’s is extending its popular $5 meal deal for a few more weeks, allowing customers to enjoy budget-friendly options amid rising food prices. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, the majority of U.S.-based McDonald’s locations have agreed to prolong the promotion beyond its initial four-week launch on June 25.
The meal deal will be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, although the specific duration of the promotion may vary by location. Some franchises plan to continue the offer into August.
As consumers face increased costs for food, particularly in the fast casual dining sector, the McDonald’s bundle has proven beneficial for the company. An analysis from foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai revealed that the launch of the meal deal led to a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s locations, indicating its popularity among patrons.
This initiative has prompted other fast casual chains to respond with their own competitive deals. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell has also joined the fray, announcing a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box in addition to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
Previously, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for an extended period, alongside new additions to its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has participated in the promotions as well, offering a $3 breakfast bundle and rolling out a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
