McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memorandum from the fast-food chain, most U.S.-based McDonald’s locations will continue to offer this promotion, which initially began on June 25, for an extended period.
The meal deal will still be available at approximately 93% of the restaurants across the country, but the duration of the offer may vary depending on individual locations, with some extending it through August.
As consumers face rising food prices, particularly in the fast-casual dining sector, this McDonald’s bundle has proven beneficial for the company. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported a significant increase in customer visits shortly after the introduction of the meal deal, indicating that it has resonated well with patrons.
The success of this promotion has prompted rival fast-casual dining chains to respond with their own deals. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, and Sonic has launched a permanent $1.99 value menu. Taco Bell also stepped up in June by offering a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited time, along with its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In late May, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would have a longer duration compared to McDonald’s offer and introduced new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s is also competing in the value deal space with a $3 breakfast bundle and a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
