McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for several more weeks. According to a memo cited by Bloomberg, a majority of U.S.-based McDonald’s locations have agreed to continue the promotion, which initially kicked off on June 25 and was set for four weeks.

The meal deal will now be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, though the duration of the promotion may vary by location, with some offering it until August.

As consumers face higher food prices, especially in fast casual dining, the McDonald’s meal deal has proven to be beneficial for the company. Foot traffic analytics company Placer.ai reported a significant increase in visitors to McDonald’s locations shortly after the bundle was introduced, indicating strong consumer interest.

The success of this deal has prompted competitors in the fast casual sector to respond with their own promotions. Arby’s has introduced a $9 meal bundle, while Sonic launched a permanent value menu at $1.99. Furthermore, Taco Bell announced a limited-time $7 Luxe Cravings Box, in addition to its existing $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.

In late May, Burger King revealed that its $5 “Your Way Meal” would be available for a longer period than McDonald’s offer, and also introduced new items under its “Fiery Menu.” Wendy’s has joined in with a $3 breakfast bundle and recently debuted a $5 combo known as the “Biggie Bag.”
